Book Prize

The Harvard Club of Silicon Valley has presented the Harvard Prize Book in area secondary schools since the founding of the club in 1963. The presenter is usually a Harvard alumnus or alumna or a member of the Harvard community. The recipient is selected by the school. The book is presented as an honor to the school, the student and the community. Some book recipients apply to the College but the book does not carry assurence of admission. The Harvard community would like to encourage outstanding students to apply to Harvard. The Harvard Prize Book is presently offered annually in 1,700 schools around the world. The number of schools that receive the book is increasing and books are being sent to schools outside the traditionally covered areas. The Harvard Club of Silicon Valley is proud to take part in this program.

Two books are presently available for presentation. The Harvard Book ($25), by the late William Bentinck-Smith, is a collection of passages and quotations about Harvard. Harvard Observed ($30), by John T. Bethell, is an illustrated history of the University in the twentieth century. If you would like to purchase a book for presentation to a school in the Silicon Valley area of California send a check made out to:
